Lean On Me

Happy Sunday Everyone:

Happy Sunday? Locked in my house, it’s raining, and my geriatric Great Dane just crapped on the floor, again. Good times. This is all true although I’m hopeful it created a hint of levity just now on your Sunday.

I was going to write about something completely different this week until I saw the news on Friday Night. Bill Withers passed away on 3/30. He wrote a lot of great songs but the ultimate was “Lean on Me”. As I was watching the national news, they showed, as I’m sure many of you saw, the NYPD/NYFD saluting the doctors/nurses/hospital staff in front of one of the NYC hospitals. While they were running this portion “lean on me” was playing in the back ground. I turned the news off, looked up Lean on Me on Apple Music, and then proceeded to blast it throughout the house for 30 minutes.

I know I just wrote about another song 6 weeks ago but music/lyrics are powerful things, especially in times like this. We all need a boost, we all need some unity, we all need some positivity to keep our hearts and heads moving in the right direction. For me, I can raise my own joy meter by listening to music with meaning.

I’ve put the lyrics of the song below but they honestly don’t do it justice without hearing them when Bill Withers is singing them. There are so many people out there right now in a funk. Not everyone reading this will follow my advice but those that do are guaranteed to have at the very least, a few minutes of joy/hope/and paying it forward today. Throw the song on and let it rip.

I’ve been doing a lot of leaning myself as of late, anyone that needs to lean on me can call me, 925-575-0086.

Enjoy your Sunday!!

Lyrics: Lean on Me.

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there’s always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won’t let show

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can’t carry
I’m right up the road
I’ll share your load

If you just call me (call me)
If you need a friend (call me) call me uh huh(call me) if you need a friend (call me)
If you ever need a friend (call me)
Call me (call me) call me (call me) call me
(Call me) call me (call me) if you need a friend
(Call me) call me (call me) call me (call me) call me (call me) call me (call me)
